Roaring Twenties: Jig Walk - Ipana Troubadours, 1925 Tube. Duration : 2.52 Mins.

Ipana Troubadours (Sam Lanins Orchestra) Jig Walk (Ellington), Columbia 1925 NOTE: „Jig Walk is a Duke Ellington composition from the 1925 revue 'Chocolate Kiddies' but not recorded by his orchestra until 1938. Recorded by many other bands immediately after its presentation on the stage by Sam Wooding's orchestra, that was picked to be the orchestra for that revue, the tune became an international hit, especially when Sam Wooding with his band (holding now the the revues name: Sam Woodings Chocolate Kiddies) toured Europe. In the history of XXth century dance music, Ellingtons „Jig Walk is one of the Roaring Twenties trademarks and belongs to the canon of charlestons, together with Mack & JP Johnsons „The Original Charleston, Ben Bernies „Sweet Georgia Brown or Doughertys „Charleston Baby Of Mine.
